Rabindranath Tagore, Jamini Roy played an important role in the development of Bengal School of Art. The painters belonging to this school selected bthemes from Indians mythology , the epis . They painted small size paintings in water colours. Abanindra nath used Japanese technique of water colour wash painting. They painted with minimum lines and bright colors schemes on a plain base.
