The Salient features of genetic códe are as follows:

$\bigstar$ The códe is triplt códe that is three nucleotides form into one codon and one codon can specify one amino acid

$\bigstar$ There are 64 triplet codons in codons dictionary out of which 3 are nonsense codons and 61 are sense codons.

$\bigstar$ Some amino acids are códed by more than one codon and this type of códe is called degenerate códe.

$\bigstar$ The same codon in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes códes for the same amino acid. The códe is universal.

• UUU códe for phenyl alanine in both Bacteria (porkaryote) and Humans (Eukaryote).

$\bigstar$ The codon which códes for amino acids are known as sense codon and the codon not códing for amino acids are know as non sense codon or stop codon.
