Hey! Tanishq here. Here's your answer.
The Islamic Empire covered the regions of Arabia, Persia, parts of the Indian subcontinent, and some parts of Asian highlands at its maximum extent. So it is possible that it included several architectural features inspired by others also. With time, these architectural features evolved and developed into what we call today the typical Islamic architecture. Some of the features of the Islamic architecture are as follows;
a. All Islamic institutions, particularly the religious ones, had a general orientation towards Mecca, the holy pilgrim.
b. They had a prayer niche in every building.
c. They had gardens very often. This feature is particularly seen in the Indo-Islamic architecture.
d. They had abstract designs in their interior architectural designs, often portrayed by calligraphic work on the walls.
e. The most common and important features that are observed in every principal Islamic institution are the domes and the minarets of various sizes, types and shapes. f. Other features include the use of geometric patterns, pointed arches and tops and pointed domes were added later on.
Also, it must be noted that Islamic architecture included several features of and native architecture. For example, features of Samarqandi architecture may differ from Indo-Islamic architecture to some extent in design and construction. The aforementioned points are some common elements that are found in all most all of the Islamic architectural instances.
