 ☆Main Features Of Salt March☆

Gandhiji found in salt a powerful symbol that could unite all the Indians.

The British had the monopoly right to manufacture salt. This reflected the repressive British rule.

In January 1930, Gandhiji wrote a letter to Viceroy Irwin stating eleven demands. Lord Irwin denied them even on the last day of ultimatum on 11 March 1930.

Gandhiji started the Dandi march starting from his ashram at Sabarmati to the coastal town of Dandi in Gujarat with 784 followers. They walked for 24 days with 10 miles a day.

On April 5, the reached Dandi and broke salt law by manufacturing salt.
