India is a vast country with multiple relief features such as hills, plateaus, islands, etc. Northern Plains of India constitutes three river systems, which includes the Ganga, the Indus, the Brahmaputra, and their tributaries. Northern Himalayas functions as a constant barrier for the country from its enemies.

The mountain ranges of Northern Himalayas play a very significant role in Agriculture production. The slopes of the mountains are ideal for the production of rice, maize, potatoes, vegetables, and fruits. In low-lying slopes, tea plantations have notably expanded in the Eastern Himalayas.

Climatic Influence: The length, thickness, and direction, of these mountain ranges, block the summer storm winds arriving from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, and cause precipitation in the form of rainfall and snowfall. In the absence of these mountains, a significant part of the Indian Subcontinent would have been a heated and dehydrated desert.
