Guru Nanak Dev founded the Sikh religion and he was the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Born in 1469, he began showing signs of divine grace from a very early age. He founded the Sikh religion in the early 1500s.

Sikhism taught the message of one God who is present in all his creations and who is the one and only truth in the world. Sikhism spread the tenets of equality, virtue and fraternal love. Guru Nanak Dev’s teaching are in the form of poetic verses and found in the holy book of Sikhism – the Guru Granth Sahib.

Guru Nanak Dev passed away in 1539.
