1) even though the French wanted an educated force , they don't want educate them so much that the colons jobs would be endangered and Vietnamese questions their rules.
2) the French wanted to removed the Chinese influence amongst the Vietnamese elites .they believed imposing a different languages was the way to do so.
3) some wanted French to be imposed to introduce Vietnamese to French culture .

1. Even though French wanted an educated labor force, they didn't want to educate them so much that the colons jobs would be endangered and Vietnamese would question their rule.

2. The French wanted to remove the Chinese influence amongst the Vietnamese elites. They believed imposing a different language was the way to do so.

3. Some wanted French to be imposed to introduce Vietnamese to French culture. But others wanted Vietnamese to be taught in lower classes and French in higher classes.
