He advocated nirguna bhakti. He firmly repudiated and rejected the religious practices like sacrifices, ritual baths, idol worship and austerities. He rejected the scriptures of both Hindus and Muslims.

He stated that the Almighty or rub had no gender or form.

Baba Guru Nanak​

Major teachings of Baba Guru Nanak were as follows: Baba Guru Nanak insisted on the importance of the worship of one true God. He believed that caste, creed or gender was irrelevant in the context of a true liberation from worldly matters. Thus, Baba Guru Nanak promoted the idea of equality.
