Stomata is get opened when guard cell get swell due to entry of water and it get close when guard cell shrink due to withdrawal of water.

The mechanism of closing and opening of stomata completely depends upon the sugar and starch concentration inside the plant. During day time, when sugar is synthesized in the presence of sunlight. The solubility of sugar increases the sap of the guard cells. Higher concentration of cytoplasm in guard cell attract the water by osmosis and become turbid and stays open.

At night when there is no photosynthesis, the sugar converts to starch which is insoluble, causes the sap concentration low due to which water moves out of the guard cells and they remain close.
