Explanation:

Water absorption in lower plants takes place by the process of osmosis through the whole plant body. In higher plants, the mechanism of water absorption is through the root hairs. Plants mainly absorb water from the soil by the capillary action. ... The water content consumed by the plant is called chesord.

Answer:

1. First of all, water is absorbed by root hairs in the soil due to the change of pressure of minerals present in roots and soil.

2. Then when water reaches the bottom of the stem then the reasons for rising of water is -

i) Root pressure: It is a pressure applied by roots which help the water to rise up.

ii) Transpiration: Water get evaporated through leaves on branches which creates a low pressure there, now the water in the bottom of the stem due to high pressure rises up.
