Plant tissues have different functions depending upon their structure and location. Help provide mechanical strength to organs. They help in providing the elasticity and flexibility to the organs. They help the tissues to bend easily in various parts of a plant like- leaf, stem, and branches without damaging the plant.

Mechanical support is plants is defined as a support provided to protect against the harsh external conditions

There rare specialized cells called collenchymas cells and sclerenchyma cells that provide mechanical support to plants.  

These cells have thick rigid walls that make up a thick uniform layer around the margin of the leaves. Sclerenchyma cells are present in stems where as collenchymas cells are present in leaves.
