Albert had been summoned to the head teacher's room much before he had a chance to ask for an interview. Albert had supposed that he was to be punished again for bad work and laziness. But the head teacher had something else in mind. He said that he would not punish Albert because Albert's work was terrible and he was not prepared to have him in the school any longer. He wanted Albert to leave school or in short, he expelled Albert. Albert was left befuddled by this sudden turn of events which actually keyed into his plans. The head teacher had no wish to mince his words, he wanted Albert to leave on his own accord. He said that Albert's presence in the classroom made it impossible for the teacher to teach and for the other pupils to learn. Albert was made out to be an obdurate student who refused to learn, a belligerent brat who served as an impediment in the progress of the class.
