ausable was a secret agent. he was very fat and could speak French and German passably. ausable is expecting to get a very important papers. when he entered his room with fowler, a writer . he was surprised to find another secret agent. max with a small pistol in his hand. fowler is a writer who thinks that secret agent are very romantic and dashing person but he was disappointed to see ausable. max demanded the paper about some new missile from ausable which he was get with in half an hour. ausable misleads max that there was a balcony under the window . he was repeatedly referring to the balcony to the trust in max's mind about the presence of balcony. but infact there was no balcony. just then there is knocked at the door . ausable tells max there must be police. max with an angry face back towards the window. he opened the window and put his leg out in the night. in the way ausable outwitted max and made him jump out of the window without a balcony . on the door, also there was no policeman but a waiter with a tray a bottle and two glasses
