At the time of ovulation, a cycle of events takes place in the uterus and vagina.

1. In case fertilisation occurs, the inner wall of uterus thickness to receive the developing zygote.

2. In case fertilisation does not occur, the thickened wall along with the blood vessels breaks down and moves out of the vagina in the form of discharge called menstrual flow, which lasts for 2-8 days.

The cycle of events takes place in the ovaries and uterus in every twenty eight days and marked by menstrual flow is called menstrual cycle.

The reproductive period of the human female continues from about the age of 13 year to 45 to 50 years.This period is marked by characteristics event( repeated almost every month that is 28 days with minor variation )in the form of of a menstrual flow it may be temporary stop only by pregnancy.

28 days of menstrual cycle is divided into 4 main phase .

  1. menstrual phase :-> it lasts for 3 to 5 days during which blood is discharged. the bleeding is caused due to shedding of the urine lining rupturing the blood vessels.starting from the onset of mensuration flow the ovary begins to form a new egg in a follicle.
  2. follicular phase:-> as the follicle grow it produce certain hormone which reactive the uterine wall to become thickened and to become thickened and to be supplied with a lot of blood .
  3. ovulation phase:->on the 13th or 14th day the follicle ruptures (ovulation )and the release egg travels down the oviduct.
  4. linear phase:->it last from 15 to 28 days uterine lining thickens further emptied follicle in the overy turns into Harmon producing tissue called Corpus lactam.if there is no fertilization that egg disintegrates and uterine lining starts shedding on 28th day.
