Hey mate...

The term "cell" is derived from latin word meaning hollow space,was given by a english scientist,Robert Hooke who in 1665 observed thin slices of cork under his crude compound microscope.Though he obsreved the cells from microscope so, it is called microscopic.He observed that the cork was composed of box like compartments,forming a Honey comb structure and he named the compartments as cells.
