Electrons are transferred sequentially between the twophotosystems, with photosystemI acting to generate NADPH andphotosystem II acting to generate ATP. ... However, at photosystem II the energy derived from absorption of photons is used to split water molecules to molecular oxygen and protons

In photosynthesis electrons are transferred from one photosystems to another's photosystems. The general features of a widely accepted mechanism for photoelectron transfer which is used is in which two light reactions which is found in light reaction I and light reaction II which occur during the transfer of electrons from water to carbon dioxide. This mechanism is organised and represented on the relative potential in volts of various cofactors of the electron-transfer chain to be oxidized or reduced.
