Khuswant Singh's grandmother was a true picture of love and care. She was a lady of virtues. Though she was highly religious but she was known for being conservative too. The grandmother presented a picture of peace and contentment. Because grandma was now aged, she wasn't that attractive from her outer appearance. Grannie used to wake up narrator,ready him up and accompanied him to his school. She used to came back home with him. Being highly religious,she was always telling the beads of her rosary. She even fed the village dogs. She took to feeding the sparrows in the city. On other side, She hated English education, learning of dance and music forms and science education. What she hated the most was, children weren't taught about God.
