ANSWER:

Dayanand Saraswati was an Indian social leader and founder of the Arya Samaj, a reform movement of the Vedic dharma

EXPLANATION:

Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a religious and social leader of India who left profound influence on the Indian people. He started the Arya Samaj which brought about transformations in the religious outlook of Indians. He articulated his opinions against the pointless emphasis and idolatry on void ritualism, and man made diktats that women are not permitted to recite the Vedas.

His idea of reproving the caste system inherited by oneself instead of their birth was radical. He brought about a total renewal of the education system by launching Anglo-Vedic schools to provide Indian students are structured curriculum teaching the knowledge of the Vedas together with contemporary English education, as well.

Though he was never actually involved himself in politics directly, his political opinions were the source of encouragement for a number of political leaders such as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Lala Lajpat Rai, Ram Prasad Bismil, Madam Cama, Madan Lal Dhingra, Subash Chandra Bose, Mahadev Govind Ranade, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh, during India’s struggle for independence.
