1)Certain bacteria and blue-green algae present in the soil fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil and convert it into compounds of nitrogen. once nitrogen is converted into these usable compounds, it can be utilized by plants from the soil through their root system.
2) when plants and animals die, bacteria and fungi present in the soil convert the nitrogenous compounds to be used by plants again.

Answer:

Atmospheric nitrogen fixation occur in two ways -

a) By symbiotic bacteria - The bacterium found in the nodules of the root of leguminous plant can take the atmospheric nitrogen and convert into nitrate which are mixed in the soil.

b) By the action of lighting - The nitrogen in oxygen gases found in the air react to form nitrates acid which comes down with the rainwater in react with limestone in the soil to form nitrates.
