Phosphorous is major element in the biological system such as cellular energy, nucleic acids, biological membranes, etc. Some animals need phosphorous for the maintenance of teeth and bones. Rock is the natural reservoir of phosphorous which contains in the form of phosphate. At the time of weathering of rocks, some amount of phosphates are mixed with soil and absorbed by the plants. Herbivores and other plants eating animals obtain this element from plants and carnivores obtain from the herbivores. When dead organisms are decomposed by phosphate-solubilizing bacteria and decomposers release phosphorous.
