# MOLLUSCA :-


→ It is the second largest phylum of animal kingdom. They are soft bodied and shell animals. Ex :- snails, Cuttlefish etc. The body have variety of shapes and are usually segmented but Neopilina is segmented mollusca.


# CHARACTERISTICS :-


1. They have organ system level of organisation.


2. They are bilaterally symmetry and triploblastic.


* Bilateral symmetry :- In which body can cut into two equal halves by a single plane.


* Triploblastic :- in which three layers namely endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm are present.


3. Digestive tract is complete.


4. They respire through gills.


5. Circulatory system is mostly of open type.


6. Excretory system includes one or two pairs of sac like kidneys.


7. Foot are present which act as appendages.


8. The body is usually differentiated into three regions namely :-


a) anterior head with sense organs.

b) ventral foot for movement.

c) dorsal visceral mass.
