Three steps taken by government in the field of education are:
1) The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 : This act inserted Article 21-A in the Constitution of India to provide free and compulsory education of all children in the age group of six to fourteen years as a Fundamental Right.
2) Saakshar Bharat Mission : It is a scheme of central government to create a literate society through a variety of teaching learning programmes for non-literate and neo-literate of 15 years and above. It targets at increasing the literate population by 70 million adults, including 60 million women.
3) Mid Day Meal scheme : It is a centrally sponsored scheme with a view to enhance enrolment, retention and attendance and simultaneously improving nutritional levels among children.
