The Popular struggle in Bolivia against the privatisation of water was started in January 2000 when World Bank pressurized Bolivian government to give up their water right which were then sold to an MNC. People went to strike against imposition of heavy taxes.

The popular struggle in Bolivia: 1. MNC- Under the pressurization of World Bank, Bolivian govt had to give the rights of water of the city Cochabamba to an MNC. The company increased the price of water by four times.
