After Indian Independence in 1947, Hindi was declared the first official language, and attempts were made to declare Hindi the sole national language of India. Due to protests from Tamil Nadu and other non-Hindi-speaking states, it was decided to temporarily retain English for official purposes until at least 1965.

English language is also known as window on the Earth. It has evolved very much after the independence. Before independence there were english schools collages or universities but after independence it was opened for all who can afford.

There is much influence of english language in the world and also in India. India has the second most English speakers in the world.

Hope it helps
