During the rule of The East India Company, the Indian soldiers were given ranks not more that Subedars while the British soldiers were even promoted ranks above Subedars. The salary of any Indan soldier was 8 times less than that of any other British soldiers.
There were a total of 1,00,000 Indian soldiers in a regiment while British were a total of 20,000 only.
