The Indian soldiers serving in East India Company were known as sepoys. The position of sepoys was very bad and they too suffered due to oppressive policies of the Company. They were treated as inferior beings and discriminated by the British officers. They were paid low salaries and were not promoted to higher ranks.
Besides the company interfered in the religious and social affairs. So these grievances made them to turn against the Company which resulted the Sepoy Mutiny or Revolt in 1857.
