Political, economic and social life of the people as represented in the Mahabharata
Explanation:
- In economic and political life between, there have been several changes. BCE 600 and CE 600, respectively. Some of these changes have also affected societies. Of starters, the expansion of agriculture in forested areas affected the livelihoods of forest inhabitants. Craft experts were also classified as separate social classes. There was the "unequal distribution" of wealth which sharpened the social differences
- Caste, ethnicity & class categorised people in multiple ways. Caste was based on birth and class was based on wealth. Ethnicity was centered on clan & tribal association. the varna system was established and teh Brahmin were considered the most superior. The other classes were Khsatriyas (warriors who protected & ruled over the state/society). It was presumed the relationship between Kshtriyas & Brahmin was not cordial. The other class was Vaishayas (agriculturists, crafts & tradesmen). They gave tributes to the Khstriyas & Brahmanas. Also the notion of untouchables had gained its root ingrained deep in the society
- The system for the Colonies, Republics, democracies, city states, and Panchayat-style elders' council was particularly complicated & dynamic. The able people of all castes, races, ideologies and ages had became leaders of their own cultures. Situation and war, drought, marriage relations were smooth and could turn one political structure into another
- The economy of the times was propelled by agricultural, animal husbandry, mining, craft and entertainment. Consumption has been promoted and for nearly all 'functions' and festivals 'new' items had been used. Fresh clothing, fresh pans, new mats, new utensils, marriages, essential guests, celebrations, etc, were to be used for births. The economy was constantly moving. Servants and slaves were quite common and they did all work. Trade between kingdoms and communities had given India momentum
