The powers of the Indian President are as follows -
1) All governmental activities take place under the name of the President.
2) All laws & major policy decisions of the government are issued in his name.
3) All major appointments are made in the name of the President. This includes appointment of the chief justice of India, judges of the Supreme Court & the High Courts of the states, the Election Commissioners, ambassadors to other countries etc.
4) All international treaties & agreements are made in the name of the President.
5) The President is the supreme commander of the defence forces of India.
