☀What is power sharing ?

✨The division of powers among the various constituent units of a country is called power sharing . It is the basic for the well functioning of a democracy. It is the very spirit of democracy that ensures the stability of government.

☀The special case of Belgium !

✨Belgium is a small country in Europe, smaller than the Indian state of Haryana. It has a population of about one crore , i,e half the population of haryana. It has borders with Netherlands,France and Germany. It's capital is Brussels.

☀The Ethnic Composition of this small country is very complex . It has Dutch , French and a small fraction of Germans .

So In order to ensure peace and harmony , the following measures were adopted ,


✨The Constitution of Belgium was amended 4 times so as to include the laws and provisions beneficial for all the citizens.

✨The state sought to divide its powers equally among central and state government.

✨The state government was not subordinate to the central government.

✨A new third level government called Community Government was also set up . It was chosen by the members of a particular culture irrespective of where they lived .

⭐Though the Belgium model is very complex , but it has worked out very well and as a result Brussels was the chosen as the headquarters of UN.
