The Constitution vests in the governor all the executive powers of the state government. The governor appoints the chief minister, who enjoys the support of the majority in the State Legislative Assembly. ... He or she also appoints the Advocate General and the chairman and members of the State Public Service Commission.

Answer:

The power of the governer of the state is just like president of india. They don’t have real powers and is like a titular head and all the power(land, law & order etc) is with the CM of the state. His job is to send the signed copy of the state bill to the president for his approval and give oath to the newly elected states. Some more power is given to Leutenant governers (LG) is small states like Pondicherry, Daman Diu and NCR delhi where they have exclusive powers of land, law & order, and police. All other ministerial berth are handled by CM of that state. So, CM is less powerful in these states.
