Private Quelch, nicknamed as "Professor" was a very knowledgeable and hardworking person. however, he had a bad habit of correcting everyone publicly even his teachers. One day he corrected Corporal Turnbull. Corporal was a tough man and also a man not to be trifled with. After being disturbed by the correction of Professor on the segments of the grenade, he told professor to give the lecture himself. Quite unabashed, Professor started giving the lecture and stood 100 percent correct in whatever he said. Corporal was very irritated and felt disrespected. He gave the Professor permanent cook house duties. This landed Professor in a lot of problems. His dreams of becoming a soldier and getting a stripe never got achieved.

the turning point in private quelchs life is when he interrupts in turnbulls class....when he interrupted turnbull got annoyed and told him to take the class himself.however private quelch wasnt shameful for the punishment and he took the class and he was also degraded to the post of being a part of the cookhouse but still private quelch didnt understand his fault and he continued to interrupt others even in the cookhouse and he also corrected other members in the cookhous
