Answers
Weimar Republic
After the German defeat in the 1st world war followed by the resignation of the emperor, parliamentary governments met at Weimar [a city in Germany] and established a Democratic constitution with other features. This was the Weimar Republic.
Problems Faced by the Weimar Republic
1) The Weimar Republic had to sign the Humiliating Peace Treaty of Versailles. The Peace treaty had demanded Germany to follow many terms, for ex. Germany losing its overseas colonies.
2) The Republic carried the burden of War Guilt and was financially crippled by being forced to pay compensations. This was a major factor for the Economic crisis in Germany.
3) Hyperinflation made the German mark valueless. It caused excessive hardships for common people and widespread inflation. This incident led to great misery and despair throughout the country.
4) In the Weimar Republic, both the communists and Socialists were uncompromisable enemies. Since they were not united, they could not make common cause against Hitler. The revolutionaries and Militant nationalists craved for radical solutions which were not easy.
5) Within its short life, the Repubic saw 20 different cabinets and the liberal use of Article 48. All these and the instability of the Weimar Republic created a Political crisis in Germany.
6) The Rebuplic instantly lost the People's support. It had lost the war, which is equal to losing its Nation's pride to the opposite powers. Which made it unpopular in Germany.
