Oxalic acid is a dibasic acid. It is available in a crystalline form as (COOH)2.2H2O

This is used as the primary standard for acids because it can be weighed accurately.

Equivalent weight of Oxalic acid = (Molecular weight / 2)

                                                       = (126 / 2

                                                       = 63g

63g of oxalic acid is needed to prepare 1000ml of 1 N Oxalic acid solution.

So 6.3g of oxalic acid is needed to prepare 1000ml of 0.1 N Oxalic acid solution.

To prepare standard N/10 Oxalic acid solution 6.3g of Oxalic acid is weighed accurately and is dissolved in 1000ml of distilled water in a beaker.

Oxalic acid is a

dibasic acid. It is available in a crystalline form as (COOH)2.2H2O

This is used as

the primary standard for acids because it can be weighed accurately.

Equivalent weight

of Oxalic acid = (Molecular weight / 2)

                                                       = (126 / 2

                                                       = 63g

63g of oxalic

acid is needed to prepare 1000ml of 1 N Oxalic acid solution.

So 6.3g of oxalic

acid is needed to prepare 1000ml of 0.1 N Oxalic acid solution.

To prepare standard

N/10 Oxalic acid solution 6.3g of Oxalic acid is weighed accurately and is dissolved

in 1000ml of distilled water in a beaker.
