Materials

1. Clear glass jar
2. Jar lid or piece of plastic large enough to cover the opening of the jar
3. Electrical tape recording
4. Bobby line, 14g or thicker
5. Straw
6. Scissors
7. Aluminium antipode or gold splint
8. Vinyl record
9. Any other material you want to test!

Procedure

• Perform this trial on a dry day! The trial might not work if it's sticky or raining.
• Use the scissors to cut a two-inch long piece of straw.
• Have an adult punch a hole through the centre of the jar lid or piece of plastic big enough to fit the straw through.
• fit the straw into the hole for your lid. Hot cement the straw so it's securely fastened to the lid.
• Cut a 10- inch piece of bobby line.
• Twist the top 4 elevations into a circle or helical to produce some face area.
• If we’re trying to test the presence of an electric charge.
• fit the straight end of the line through the straw and produce a hook about 1 inch long.
• Hang two small pieces of antipode or gold splint on the hook. Make sure they're in contact.
• Place the hooked end of the essence into the jar and twist on or tape recording the lid to the jar.
