It is a technique which helps to compare the immunological differences in between different animals. They are meant to give the results of overall similarities.

Law of proportionality' is used by these techniques which says that similar animals with similar antibodies as well as the similar serological makeup of the antigens. There are two procedures using which immuno-taxonomy in animals can be studied.

Ouchterlony diffusion method is a method in which small amounts of antigens and antibodies diffuse through agar gels. A line of precipitation arcs is formed when antibodies react with antigens. The arcs of precipitation are not formed in dissimilar samples.

Immunoelectrophoresis is a method to not used much as the precipitation arcs that are formed from the mixture of the antigens and the mixture of antibodies make it tedious to interpret the correct pair.
