Answer:

The oxygenated blood from the lungs returns to the heart, which is pumped again into different parts of the body by the heart. Thus, the blood passes twice through the heart making one complete round through the body. This is called double circulation.

The human circulatory system has three key components: blood vessels, blood and the heart. It is called a double circulatory system because blood passes through the heart twice per circuit. The right pump sends deoxygenated blood to the lungs where it becomes oxygenated and returns back to the heart.

Advantage of double circulation:

Higher blood pressure is maintained. There is a greater flow of blood to the tissues. Double circulation gives the ability to create more pressure to pump blood round the whole body system. There is separation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.
