Describe the process of formation of fruit?
Answers
First pollination(which is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma) occurs, there is fertilization(the process by which a haploid egg fuses with a haploid male cell gamete to form a diploid zygote) the ovules develop into seeds whereas the ovary ripens and it's walls(polycarp) becomes fleshy hence a fruit is formed
Answer:
When the pollen grains from the anther fall on a stigma of a flower then the pollengrain starts forming a pollen tube and heads to the embryo sac in the ovary through the style. Here the generative cell of the pollen grain would have divided into two male gametes. One of the male gametes fuses with the egg (female gamete) and forms zygote later into the seed. And the other fuses with the secondary nucleus to form endosperm (This process is triple fusion). These two process are together called as the double fertilization. At the end of this process the fertilized ovary forms the fruit and the ovule forms the seed. Here endosperm acts as a nutritive tissue for the developing embryo.
