These are the biological mechanisms that make up breathing. We breathe in to take in oxygen, and breathe out to expel carbon dioxide

◆ Respiration involves taking in oxygen and release of carbon dioxide by the process of breathing.

◆ The taken oxygen is the utilised to oxidise chemical energy stored in the food to released energy in the form of ATP along with carbon dioxide and water.

◆ Respiration involves exchange of gases.

◆ i.e. oxygen with carbon dioxide. Respiration in human beings takes place through a special system called as respiratory system.This involves nostrils, nasal cavity, larynx, bronchi, bronchioles ending in alveoli.
