Sex determination in unborn human baby :

  • The sex of unborn baby is determined by the sex chromosomes.

  • An unfertilized egg always has X chromosomes.

  • Sperms are of two types.

  • One contain X chromosomes and the other contains Y chromosomes.

  • If sperm contributes a Y chromosome to the egg at fertilization, the zygote would develop into male child.

  • If a sperm containing X chromosome fertilizes the egg, the zygote would develop into a female child.
