The process of voting on the polling day is as follows.
- On the day of casting the vote, before the beginning of the voting process polling booth are set up by the officials appointed by the election commission.
- The officials set up poll machines (EVMs) or ballot boxes whichever is used for the vote at the polling booth.
- Then the polling process begins with the voters standing in a queue irrespective of their gender, social class, caste creed, etc.
- the voters must carry their voter enrolment ID to the polling booth with them.
- The voter’s name is verified by the officials in the electoral roll of the particular constituency/village/ward.
- Then the voter is allowed to go inside and click on the button with the symbol of the respective candidate/party whom he/she is supporting.
- In this way, a candidate casts their vote.
- At the end of the day, the EVMs or ballot boxes are sealed and safely sent to the places where the votes are to be counted.
