Answer:

My Mum was a stay at home parent and my first stepdad worked as a removal man (he appeared in our lives when I was six) and he had a really strong work ethic, even on his days off he'd build fireplaces, plant crops in the garden - he was always doing something. Mum, had OCD and she didn't talk much, just tidied and cleaned constantly.

My second stepdad claimed he was a cabinet maker but he was more of a joiner who worked cash in hand and learnt his skills in prison. He barely ever worked and I once got him a job working for a contracting company on the Humber bank and none of the other men wanted to work with him, so he only managed to stay in work whilst they had some on site work to do, because of his criminal record. I got him a job with a friend, laying fence posts and he ended up messing that up, made a load of excuses and my friend ended up not been my friend anymore and I don't have a clue why. I stopped trying to help him with work after that.

And then there's my genetic father, he's a time served electrician but spent the last thirty years caring for his ill wife and raising my two “little” brothers.

My work ethic came from not wanting to be like my mum, dependent on someone else for my own finances.
