Describe the properties of elements briefly.
Answers
These properties include color, density, melting point, boiling point, and thermal and electrical conductivity. While some of these properties are due chiefly to the electronic structure of the element, others are more closely related to properties of the nucleus, e.g., mass number ....
An element is the simplest and purest form of an atom such as gold, in which only the atoms of the gold is present. Properties of an element depend upon the number of electrons in its outermost orbit. Since in a period, the number of electrons in valance shell changes, properties of elements in a period differ significantly. Reactivity first decreases up to group 14 and then increases. Thus, group 1 elements are the most reactive metals while those of group 17 are the most non-reactive non-metals.
