Rajasthan is one of the driest region in India where people face the problem of water. In many villages women travels long kilometers to carry water because of these problems the people of Rajasthan are practicing different methods of water conservation.

⏭️ Roof top Rainwater Harvesting :

This method was commonly practiced in many parts of Rajasthan in which the rain water from the roof stored in water tanks which is very useful for irrigation porpose, drinking, washing etc.

⏭️ Underground tanks or 'tankas' :

This was the traditional method of Rainwater Harvesting in Rajasthan. People constructed underground tanks inside the house or in the courtyard. There was a pipe which is connected from the roofs and this helps in storing water to the tanks from the roofs.

Thus in this way they used to harvest water.

In rajasthan ...people traditionaly built tanks in the basements.

Rainwater from rooftop was collected in the tanks.

The water was stored so that it could be used during lean seasons.

at some places, baolis were made to store water.
