The respiratory system is the network of organs and tissues that help you breathe. It includes your airways, lungs, and blood vessels. The muscles that power your lungs are also part of the respiratory system. These parts work together to move oxygen throughout the body and clean out waste gases like carbon dioxide.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM IN HUMANS
- Nostril → Air enters and exits the system, also humidifies and filters air
- Oral cavity → Air enters and exits the system
- Pharynx → Passageway that connects the oral/nasal cavity to the respiratory tract
- Larynx → Connects the pharynx to the trachea and keeps foods and drinks out of the airway, also is our voice box
- Trachea → Windpipe through which air moves
- Carina → “fork in the road” of the trachea
- Bronchi → Passageways for air into the lungs
- Lungs → Where gas exchange occurs with Alveoli
- Diaphragm → Muscle that aids in breathing
