The Plantation workers if Assam are mainly the workers of tea gardens..At that time Assam tea was on high rate...The workers are not properly given wages, they have to do overtime and if they want to leave they first need permission.. The British were in the fact of earning money but progressing Indian economy ..When the workers hear the non -cooperation movement, they leave their and go to homes..And then after the revolt start of the plantation workers of Assam as they have their own understanding of 'Swaraj' and notion.....

The Emigration act was in enforcement during the British rule.

Explanation:

As per the act plantation workers were confined inside the plantation area itself. They were not allowed to exit or enter the area. They were not even allowed to visit their villages.

REVOLT OF WORKERS: According to workers of the estate or large plantation farming, freedom means to move freely in and out of the estate and have link with the town or village from they come. The thoughts of workers converted to right of voice once they hear about the NON-COOPERATION MOVEMENT initiated by Gandhiji.

The workers began asking for their rights to move freely and thousands of workers denied coming for job and left the plantation area. However, the workers who headed home were arrested and beaten up badly by Britain police.
