The Ribcage is a structure of thin, flat, curved bones that form a protective cage for the internal organs of upper body and protects lungs and heart.

This Ribcage consists of twelve pairs of ribs that curve around from the back of our body towards the front.

Each Pair of ribs is attached to the backbone at the back. In Front, the ribs are connected to the breastbone called sternum.

The Lowest two pairs are not connected to the breastbone and thus called Floating Ribs.
