Answer:
Citizens play a vital role in solid waste management. They are base on solid waste management programs such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. If an individual wills then only our country could be clean. Citizens can do the following to reduce wastes:-
1. Reduce Solid: Reduce solid waste at source means using less paper and less use of plastic carry bags.
2. Reuse Solid: Reuse making manure out of decomposable waste, making note-books out of unused papers.
3. Recycle: Means separating plastic, metal, rubber, and glass and sending it to recycling for the manufacture of other products.

ANSWER:-
Solid waste management
Solid waste is everything that goes to trash. It includes wastes from home , offices, stores, schools , hospitals, etc .
Wastes are collected and disposed by municipality. Municipal solid waste generally consist of paper , food, plastic, glasses, metals, rubbers, leathers, textiles, etc.
TYPES OF SOLID WASTE
a. Biodegradable waste
b. Non Biodegradable waste
Biodegradable waste
Biodegradable material contains food waste like vegetable and fruit peels, dead plants and animals, egg shells, chicken, garden waste paper materials, human waste, manure, sewage, sewage sludge and slaughterhouse waste, etc .
In the absence of oxygen, much of this waste will decay to methane by anaerobic digestion.
The biodegradable waste materials can be put into deep pits in the ground and left for natural degradation.
Non Biodegradable waste
Non-biodegradable things include of plastics, polystyrene, plastic, metals, and aluminum cans, toxic chemicals, paints , etc.
Non biodegradable wastes have to disposed off.
Citizens play a vital role in solid waste management. They are base on solid waste management programs such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. If an individual wills then only our country could be clean.
A) In order to keep as much material out of the landfill as possible, it’s important for each of us to do our part. One of the ways to put that plan into action is through the 3 Rs of waste management — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
1. Reduce means to cut back on the amount of trash we generate.
2. Reuse means to find new ways to use things that otherwise would have been thrown out.
3. Recycle means to turn something old and useless (like plastic milk jugs) into something new and useful (like picnic benches, playground equipment and recycling bins).
B) Our rag pickers and Kabadiwallas do a great job of separation of materials for recycling. ( SEGREGATION )
C) Treatment of e waste should be carried out by environmentally manner so that workers should not exposed to toxic substances from e waste.
D) Large amount of use can be avoided , if we inculcate the habit of carrying cloth bags when we go for shopping and strictly refusing plastic bags from the vendors. Government should charge high penalty / fine for the individuals not abiding by this rule.
E) We can use non biodegradable waste in THERMAL POWER PLANT to produce electricity. We can get a little amount of heat in term to produce steam to run the turbine.
( It is more adequate because when we burn it in open area it will cause pollution and can harm to nearby towns. )
F ) There should be at least 2 and maximum 3 bins at home:
1.Bin for wet waste
2. Bin for Dry waste
G ) As the quality of the waste is very bad in India, the cost for such processing site is also high, which need subsidy from the government, and ultimately it should be paid by the citizens . Other than the citizens, the cost should be bore by the manufacturers of these plastic waste/packaged goods. There is a policy for this in India, however again the enforcement is will take 5–10 years
H) Non-biodegradable things like plastics, polystyrene, plastic, metals, and aluminum can be use in manufacturing roads. It will make road water proof and can increase the shelf life of road.
PRIMARY GOAL OF ALL CITIZENS SHOULD BE TO REDUCE GENERATION OF WASTE.
