If the importance for gender equality is publicised, then more people can come to understand that it is an issue and what they can to to stop it. The more people who speak out about the issues such as the gender pay gap, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and gender inequality, the more people who gain awareness and the more people who can work together to stop gender inequality

For example:

Many people did not know what climate change was, or even know if it was real. Then as governments and organisations (United Nations, NASA, National geographic) started speaking out about it, most people began seeing that it was an issue and steps to prevent it have/are being taken.
