Lech Walesa was a former electrician in the Lenin Shipyard. He soon emerged as the leader of the strikes.The workers led by Walesa signed a 21 point agreement with the government that ended their strike.After the Gdansk agreement was signed , a new trade union called the Solidarity party was formed.Walesa resulted in an agreement in April 1989 for free elections.Solidarity party won the election .On October1990 ,Poland had its first election and Walesa was elected President Of Poland.
