Network Interface Card, or NIC is an interface between a network cable and a computer. The role of nic in network includes preparing, sending and controlling data.
Nic is a physcial interface between a computer and cable. It converts the data sent by a computer into a form that can be used by a network cable, transfer the data to another system and controls the data flow between the computer and cable. It converts the data coming from the cable to bytes that is readable by the computer's CPU. This is the reason why a network card is an expansion card and is inserted into an expansion slot.
